Bridlington Town striker Logan continues form in front of goal at Garforth

Bridlington Town’s Billy Logan admits that he is enjoying his football and his side’s recent form after his goal helped the Seasiders to a 1-1 draw at Garforth Town on Saturday.

Logan’s 65th-minute strike helped Brett Agnew’s side grab a share of the spoils on Saturday after a Sam Barker goal had the hosts 1-0 ahead at the interval.

He said: “I’m really enjoying my football and we’re on a good run of form at the moment, which is building confidence.”

Logan has netted eight times for his side in 13 league games this season and is delighted to contribute both on and off the pitch.

“It’s always nice to score goals and know that you’re helping the team when it comes to picking up the three points,” he added.

“Having Joe (McFadyen) also scoring goals helps me and with him returning from being sidelined it’ll be like a new signing for the side.”

The former Scarborough Athletic and Pickering Town striker insists that it was two points dropped for the Seasiders.

Logan added: “It was one of those end-to-end matches and we could have won or lost the game.

“We all chatted after the game and felt like it was points dropped rather than a point gained and that just shows the overall mentality in the squad,”

His side sit in sixth place in the Northern Counties East League with a tough game against Knaresborough coming up.

“We’re in a really good position at the moment and being out of the light of others definitely suits us as a team,” Logan added.

“If we can keep this run going we will eventually move up the table even more and hopefully start to challenge the top three.

“Brett (Agnew) has massively helped me and he’s installed that winning mentality across the board which has helped us.”

Ratcliffe’s delight as Scarborough RUFC defeat Durham

Scarborough RUFC fly-half Tom Ratcliffe was delighted with his side’s second-half performance against Durham City as they won 21-12 and moved 10 points clear of the relegation places in North One East on Saturday.

Ratcliffe kicked two crucial penalties late on to give his side a comfortable lead and is keen to keep this momentum going.

“It was a must win on Saturday and I feel like we are building momentum,” admitted Ratcliffe.

“We made too many errors in the first half, but we knew that if we stayed in the game, we’d be able to use the conditions to our favour.”

“I was able to guide the lads and control the game by kicking into the corners and making it a bit easier for our forwards.

“We haven’t had the best luck in recent weeks and I believe that things are starting to change and go our way.”

Scarborough sit in sixth position in the North One East standings and travel to local rivals Driffield on Saturday with Ratcliffe expecting another tough game.

The Scarborough fly-half added: “Driffield are very similar to us and play a good style of rugby.

“Hopefully we will get a good following of fans and that we can continue to build on our recent performances.

“It’ll be nice to finish the season with a few more wins and go into next year with confidence.”

Scarborough RUFC keen to home in on Morley win

Scarborough RUFC welcome fifth-placed Morley to Silver Royd on Saturday as they look to push clear of the North One East relegation places.

Scarborough fell to a disappointing 43-7 defeat at Driffield last weekend with winger Jonty Holloway bagging his side’s only try.

With Durham City picking up losing bonus points, the Silver Royd outfit have been dragged into a relegation scrap with the gap being six points from the team currently in the third relegation spot.

Saturday’s visitors were edged out by promotion-chasing Cleckheaton 18-17 at Scatcherd Lane and will be looking to return to winning ways.

Morley are on a run of five straight away defeats with their recent loss on the road at Bradford & Bingley where they lost 47-24.

Both sides met back in November, where Morley won 15-9 in a game that saw Simon Smith’s side defend superbly but fall short.

Since then, Scarborough have slipped down the table but a win on Saturday would take them above their opponents and into fifth place.

Simon has made a few changes from Saturday’s defeat, Henry Hocking replaces Tom Harrison at full-back due to him picking up concussion in the derby last weekend.

Jordan Holloway comes in to play at hooker as Matty Jones moves to tight head prop and Phil Watson returns in the second row.

Scarborough RUFC team: Nino Cutino, Jordan Holloway, Matty Jones, Luke Brown, Phil Watson, Will Leah, Euan Govier, Drew Govier (captain), Jordan Wakeham, Tom Ratcliffe, Angus Frend, Billy Parker, Komiti Tuilagi, Jonty Holloway, Henry Hocking

Replacements: Joe Nellist, Will Rennard, Sam Jackson.

Will it be sink or swim for Tadcaster Albion?

Storm Ciara has well and truly left its mark on non-leage Tadcaster Albion as the club is currently sat in metres of dirty river water and are facing potential closure.

The club, who are currently applying their trade in the Betvictor North West Division, has been around for over 125 years and are currently hoping that fund raising will help keep the club a float.

The persistent rain fall and flooding has ripped the club apart, damaging the roof and leaving the club house in dirty river sludge.

The Brewers will be hoping that a sum of £12,000 can be raised so that the immediate works can begin but a full sum of £42,000 will be required to get the club back to it’s former glory.

Chairman Andy Charlesworth said: “We have invested thousands of pounds in the club following previous floods.

“We just can’t keep doing this every year. We can’t get flood insurance and we are now facing the potential of closure of the club. For the Club to continue help in the form of donations or materials/services in kind will be needed.

“On behalf of the club I would like to thank everyone who has shown their support to our current plight.”

Sam Jackson shares his delight at debut try for Scarborough RUFC.

Scarborough RUFC debutant Sam Jackson was delighted to bag a debut try on Saturday despite his side falling to a 35-24 defeat at Moortown.

The young winger, who has made his way through the junior set up, said: “I was buzzing to get the call up from Simon (Smith) and to top it off with a try makes it even more special for me.

“I played well for the Danesmen a week before and then trained with the lads throughout the week.

“It’s never nice when a player is injured but I knew that I needed to take my chance and prove myself.”

The winger is hopeful that his performance and desire will lead to more games in the future.

“I’m hoping for more opportunities now,” added Jackson.

“I’m very keen to relish the challenge of playing first team rugby and I can’t wait to develop my game.”

With tough games coming up against West Hartlepool and York, Jackson wants to keep hold of his position in the team.

He added: “I need to keep performing well if I want to stay in the team.

“As a winger, I’m always looking to score tries and present others with the opportunity to score.”
